I played for a while when I lived in Lafayette, but never really played enough to learn what I was doing. I just found out a few months ago that my friend Kevin lives here now (that's who I would go with in Lafayette). I have only played 7 times since we starting playing here.
I am about to have surgery on my stomach, so I am going to have to put a pause on my disc golf playing for the time being. I don't want to forget what I have accomplished during the month and a half or so that I have been playing again, so I will research the sport and write what I find here.
Here's what I've got so far:
Baton Rouge Disc Golf Courses:
- Highland Park - Southside BR, Highland Rd.
- 18 Holes
- Will be closing temporarily in the near future for a re-design)
- Flanacher Park - Zachary, Flanacher Rd.
- 21 Holes
- Very pretty; don't have to worry about other people (actual park is far away from course)
- Greenwood - Baker, Plank Rd
- ___ Holes
- BREC is currently working on this course, so I've never been there.
- Broadmoor United Methodist Church - Sharp Rd at Mollylea Dr. (one block from Goodwood Blvd.)
- 9 Holes
- Very small, great for working on mid-range shots.
- Must be careful if playing in the afternoon. This is a school and the children are picked up in the back right at the course.
My Discs:
- Drivers
- Valkyrie
- Banshee
- Surge
- Midranges:
- MRX
- Some blue thing that has no writing on it
- Putters:
- None
I am left handed and prefer to use a forehand throw. I am still not exactly sure what hyzer and anhyzer are (how to release with them, anyway). My disc golf abilities are not much better than my regular golf abilities.
Wow, this entire post sounds like it was written by a 12 year old! I am trying to write down my overall thoughts while watching TV and listening to my wife blab about whatever it is she's talking about, so its kinda hard to concentrate right now. I promise, the future posts will seem more like an educated adult wrote it (I hope, anyway).
And now I will drink a beer.
